The chain balance bridge consists of 3 main elements: two support frames and planks suspended on 5 mm chains, interconnected with 5 mm chains. Crossing the chain bridge gives children the opportunity to develop and test their balance and coordination skills.
Due to the high intensity of use, the equipment requires regular inspection and maintenance. The play structure does not pose inherent risks, but parental supervision is recommended for children under 5 years of age.
The product complies with MSZ EN 1176-1:2018 standards and comes with a playground compliance certificate.
Materials and structural design:
- Wooden parts: Made of laminated pine beams, visible grade. The wood is technically dried, finger-jointed, and laminated to eliminate defects and optical imperfections that would reduce strength. By removing weak points and using a laminated structure, the product complies with DIN EN 14080:2013. Strength class: GL24h. Board material is AB quality, free from loose or black knots. Planed, sanded on all sides, splinter-free with rounded edges. Surface treatment is environmentally friendly, highly resistant to weather conditions, UV-stable, treated with two coats of water-based thick-layer stain and a natural anti-fungal agent. All screws are covered with tamper-proof, rounded plastic caps.
- Metal parts: The chain network supporting the walking planks is made of 5 mm thick galvanized steel chains, designed to be finger entrapment-free. The chain support structure is secured with 6 hex bolts and self-locking nuts.
- Metal support legs: Made of bent sheet carbon steel with powder coating, attached to the wooden structure with spacers that prevent direct ground contact, avoiding rot. Each leg is secured with a minimum of four long steel bolts. The surface is primed and powder-coated using modern, eco-friendly corrosion protection.
Installation:
The four support legs are placed into dug-out holes so that the top of the horizontal beams is level and parallel, 90 cm above ground level. The holes are filled with concrete, stopping 20 cm below ground surface. After thorough compaction, the remaining space is filled with soil or loose material. Due to the low fall height, additional impact-absorbing surfacing is not required – grass is sufficient according to playground safety standards.
