The "Sonnie" is a free-standing tube chime consisting of 11 tuned metal tubes of varying lengths. The longer the tube, the deeper the sound it produces. The eleven powder-coated aluminum tubes can be played using HDPE mallets. Each tube is tuned, and the pitch changes according to its size. Experimenting with the tubes allows for the creation of highly diverse and melodic sounds. The instrument is characterized by a delicate scale of high frequencies and aliquot overtones. To enjoy the enchanting tones of the tube chimes, the tubes should be struck in the middle with a mallet. Even the simplest, intuitive rhythms result in beautiful melodies. Two players can perform together on the chimes with two mallets, making it suitable for paired play and for developing teamwork skills.
Materials and Structure: Powder-coated steel frame, tuned powder-coated aluminum tubes, and HDPE mallet set.
Installation: Installation in loose soil is carried out with concreting. When preparing the concrete footing, ensure that the concreting ends at least 40 cm below ground level. Once the concrete has hardened (curing time at least 10–15 days depending on weather), the instrument can be used safely. On existing concrete or other hard surfaces, installation with flat anchors is recommended.
